ATI AIW Radion 32 ON Win2k Pro/SP4 - drivers and MMC suggested by members do not work for me Help.

I am doing a fresh Install and seek Guidance. Bellow is what happened the last time I Installed a fresh Install.

It was suggested to me to use the 4.1 (See correction of new 4.2 Catalyst drivers just released) drivers and they were installed and accepted. I then went to ATI drivers for AIW Radion 32 And installed the All Inwonder Radion Family files.

ATI sais to use the 3 for radion Family where it offers the drivers it later sais as follows:

Q2: Which ATI products support MMC 8.x?

A2: MMC 8.x runs on all built by ATI RADEON? cards, and ALL-IN-WONDER® cards from the RADEON? to the 9700 PRO. TV WONDER? VE, PCI and PRO cards also install this version of MMC 8.8. Since MMC 8.1, owners of ALL-IN-WONDER® cards have enjoyed MULTVIEW? functionality by adding a TV WONDER PCI or PRO card to their system.

The additional 3 downloads for MMC and installed them in the order they are offered.

When I was done everything looked right and there were no griping requesters but the TV did not go on nor did the TV channel detect and instalation happen. I click on TV and nothing happens.

I am redoing my system yet again clean install and seek HELP yet again.

PS I just noticed the 4.2 Catalyst driver is out and there is a puzzling note of how to delete and reinstall the new driver.
In the note it sais to remove the drivers first, reboot then remove the MMC.

Then when Done install the 4.2 drivers. But no mention of MMC
Since I have not yet installed any in this round, do I just install the 4.2 Catalyst or also the MMC?

I have had so many problems with the ATI AIW radion 32 working right in Win2k (I had other problems in winXP so I opted to go for win XP Pro SP4)

I just installed the Catalyst 4.2 driver and the 3 MMC files and everything works but the TV it sais check the Windows Manager to ensure thet the correct video driver has been installed

So what video Driver do you suggest to install for this ATI AIW Radion 32?
I know I was told to use 4.1 and it does not work nor 4.2

HELP!

Since I have not yet installed any in this round, do I just install the 4.2 Catalyst or also the MMC?

It is always the same. There are 2 major components here:

#1. The drivers (these must version match to install properly): These include the;

A) Display Driver <these are required for your card to work>
B) Control Panel <these allow you to configure your cards specific features>
C) WDM Capture driver <these are required for the video capture features of your card to work>

#2 MMC (Multimedia Center)

MMC is the Multimedia Center Software Suite for the Radeon cards. It is not required to be installed for your card to function. It is also not required to update when you update your drivers. It does include software applications that are designed around the features of the ATI cards, and the newer versions will often expose functionality and features even on the older cards.

You should think of them as 2 different things.

*If you want to upgrade your DRIVERS, you go to ATI and pick the Drivers and install them as a package. You need to install all 3 every time you upgrade the drivers.

*If you want to upgrade the SOFTWARE, in other words, the applications like the TV, the DVD player, the PVR ect...you go to ATI and pick the MMC package you want and install them. Note that there are seperate components that must be installed (DAO / MDAC)

To install ANY of them, make sure you note the extra software requirements, like DX9 or Windows media encoder that also must be installed in order for it to function. Really, after a few years of ownership, installing ATI drivers should be a simple, step by step process by now. One that I've shared with you myself more than once. I see you mention things like XP Pro SP4, and I honestly cringe, but understand why maybe you have so much trouble getting it to work. I wish I could fly on over to the Big Island and give you a hand myself...we'd have that baby up and running in no time😉

well I went and tried my old CD and it works .

I think that your help was all for XP and I do recall that in XP the video worked but I had problems from my hard drive which now is failing and I have bought a new one 160 gig and that is waht I am installing a fresh windows 2000ProSP4 I have it near done now. as far as basics. a week or so and I will have it running.

I think you have had XP from the beginning, and I wanted XP but it just is too much of a hastle it could be my motherboard with the many drivers whatever it is I will stay withwin2kpro sp4 till Longhorn comes.

enough is enough

Thank you rbV5 you certainly meant well.
