I want to use it for photoshop and stuff. So i can work on the image while viewing it on another zoomed out, stuff like that. Is this possible to do with the ATI ones?
Thanks

The AIW cards support 1 crt or DFP monitor AND 1 TV or VCR. They do not support dual monitors. I use a secondary PCI card for dual monitors, and that works well, except the video-in functions are disabled while the secondary card is enabled, so no TV and no video capture with dual monitors. I do not know if the same is true for the AIW 7500 or the AIW 8500dv.

Funny thing, with my triple monitor setup I have the TV tuner On 19" monitor (I'm a financial consultant so I like to have the business news on as much as I can), second monitor 17" is my browser for keeping up to date stock markets etc, third monitor 17" is for my Email, contact manager, office, word etc.

My three vid cards are pretty much always activated and my video in, tv tuner and video capture have no problems what so ever.

rbV5 is right about the AIW cards, they do only support 1 crt or DFP monitor AND 1 TV or VCR. They do not support dual monitors so no choice to go to another PCI vid card to drive that other monitor, or monitors if you get a dual head that supports two monitors on the same card. Then you could have three monitors with only the two vid cards. Tv on one monitor and your photoshop and stuff on number two monitor. Then you can work on the image on number three monitor. Cool huh.

Maybe the PCI AIW doesn't have the same trouble in a multimonitor situation. Your AIW 128 uses the Rage Theater Chip right?

i have some pci cards lying around. I'm just worried about the quality. I have an ati rage pro 8 meg pci card lying around and a couple of Tridents 2 megs.

My would be best for me then? On a budget. I want dual monitor ( so i guess i'll have to use the PCI card) and i also want MPEG capture with good 3d. I have the hauppauge WinTV theater already but thought that the quality of the captre would be better with the ATI. If this is not true then I'll just get the regular ATI 7500 and not the AIW.. hell, i'l just get the 8500 then..

Let me know if anyone has experience with video capture on the Hauppauge cards and the ATI cards. Thanks

Davi

ps i could careless about TV output.

I capture video with my Radeon quite a bit, quality is excellent. Here is a list of capture cards with user comments and ratings.

I have used the capture part of my aiw 7500 and it is a lot better than my old hauppage wintvgo card. 2d and 3d is better than my old gf2mx. I don't really know anything about dual displays and such.

Yes you are correct, Rage chip.
