ATI AIW 9800pro issues

I am having a very annoying and persistent problem with my Radeon AIW. The tv tuner works fine, but when recording off the tuner, after a few minutes the system will hang and the video card loses signal. I have tried installing/uninstialling all the multimedia center and catalyst drivers to no avail. I am running a P4 on an ASUS P4P800-E with 1gb Corsair RAM. Does anybody have a solution for me because I really need to record some shows and the system keeps locking up. Thanks.

I have a pretty similiar system (same MB/card and amount of RAM, see sig) and don't have any trouble. Is this the only problem you have? Anything overclocked?

Does your video card lose the signal from the source? Or do you mean your monitor loses the signal?

Are you running AGP 8x? Your motherboard may have faux support for this. (I'm not familiar with that board)
Do you have fast writes enabled (you shouldn't.)
Do you have anything in your first PCI slot?
Are you using cats 4.2 and MMC 8.9?
Have you tried a third party capture program (even windows movie maker) to see if you experience the same stability issue?

Thanks. I'll try those things. I have MMC 8.9 and the latest catalyst drivers so that's not the problem. Does anybody have other suggestions or has anybody encountered the same problem? Nothing is overclocked and the RAM is very conservatively clocked (SPD). I don't have anything in PCI slot1 and I'm on 8X, which I think is normal.

You board may have faux 8x support. Try going to 4x and see what happens. Also, disable fast writes as alteady suggested. If this fails, I've seen similary problems fixed with a reformat. It's an unfortunate reality of MMC.
