ATI AIW 8500 DV dark picture??

just installed the 8500DV and the output is darker then my old banshee video card i had in there. it's not MUCH darker but definitely enough that I noticed it. It was a refurb card i bought from egghead. Do i need to be concerned or is this how it is supposed to be?

also, what settings should i have it on for max quality. Thanks
