I got a free ATI AIW 128 16MB AGP card fom a friend. I have been using it and enjoying it (because I came from a 3 year old do-nothing-special video card). I dont read much talk of the AIW products here on these forums. I want to know how this card measures up against others for gaming, and just general benchmarks. Are there some good links you could refer me to, or software you recommend? I tried Sandra, but it didnt inform me of much.

Thanks

WOW. Thank you. I am quickly beginning to get the picture. From that article, it appears that this card basically sucks for gaming. I recently got a couple of games and tried them out. I was impressed for a newbie to gaming, but I cant imagine how blown away I would be by some of these "real" 3d cards. Now I see why not too many people have this card. I enjoy the TV/DVD aspects of it. I dont know how it compares to other TV cards... Why the heck do they call it AIW when it is really AIW-NOT?!?!

(now now I says to myself. I must remain grateful)

Well if you can actually make the card work properly you can be grateful because it does quite a lot. I never could solve the sound interference, make it recognize a TV, or hear sound from the TV tuner. Along with the naff games performance, I wrote it off as a dead loss. This was the PCI one.

The card's performance is not too bad. It's like 2 years old though(witch means very slow for today's standards)

Yeah, I find it to be pretty well suited for my current needs. I get good tv quality on my desktop with it (better than my regular tv) and its decent enough performance-wise for me while I learn some games. It works well with my camcorder..etc..It's amazing how far the cards have come in a couple of years though...

Must have been lucky with mine, I had no problems since I got it in September of 1999 and it was the top of the line then, I don't even think the 32MB had come out yet. I have upgraded to the A-I-W Radeon now though and look forward to the PCI version comming out in January for a dual video (dedicated to entertainment center) computer.
