It will make them an interesting competition to nVidia.

Quadro vs FireGL
GeForce2/3 vs Radeon/R200
GeForce2MX vs RadeonLE/VE

Makes an interesting top to bottom product line matchup.

LOL@eagle__2, thanks but why did you mention me in this thread before I posted? hehehe

He can foresee the future. :) Many ATers do, in fact. :)

I think that one of the most interesting aspects is:

fire GL1 32mb ddr sgram 256bit memory interface

fire GL2 64mb ddr sgram 256bit memory interface

fire GL3 128mb ddr sgram 256bit memory interface

fire GL4 128mb ddr sgram 256bit memory interface

I would like to see what would happen if the next chip after the Radeon 2 would be like if ATi would implement features like the 256bit interface.

bleh.. It's good from the standpoint that ATi could theoretically get a nice boost from this in the consumer line, but I doubt we'll see much help!

after all, if ATi DID move to the 256bit memory bus, that would mean they wouldn't have to worry about memory limitations nearly as much, and could simply continue with the setup they have right now (ie, HyperZ etc).

BTW, congradulations LXi, and Noriaki on attaining Elite Member status, it is well deserved!

s3 seems to have died, nothing fancy.

diamond only had their entry level professional stuff...

this brings ati closer to the OEM and business, and we know ati is the OEM "king"

anyway, ati will probably come out with some entry level professional card, probably gonna use dual out on one card again...

I know, but I did a search and it returned almost nothing. So I thought I'd post it up.
