I have been reading this forum for weeks trying to decide which card to buy.. Got a budget of about $250
Got a couple of few questions.

1. I play MMORPG ie. Everquest, Starwars Galaxies.. I see a great deal written about Far Cry and Doom 3 numbers but not much of anything written about the MMORPG platform. Does one card brand work better than another ATI vs. Geforce?

2. Looking at newegg i see a Powercolor Radeon 9800 in 2 flavors. 128 bit and 256 bit. I have a Dell 4550 P4 2.5 w 1GB pc 2700 ram. Am I going to see a great difference in preformance between the 2 cards?

POWERCOLOR ATI RADEON 9800PRO EZ Video Card, 128MB DDR, 128-bit, DVI/TV-Out, 8X AGP, Model "R98-PC3F" -OEM Brown Box

nullCONNECT3D ATI RADEON 9800PRO Video Card, 128MB DDR, 256-bit, DVI/TV-Out, 8X AGP -RETAIL

SAPPHIRE ATI RADEON 9800 PRO Video Card, 128MB DDR, 256-bit, DVI/TV-Out, 8X AGP -BULK

3. I very leary of OC my card since funds are tight and I don't really feel like frying my card and having to replace it in a matter of months. This will have to tide me over till I can afford to build a custom gaming rig.

I don't see any Radeon 9800P's in my price range on newegg so not sure where to go since none of these vendors come up in alot of discussions on forum.

Any suggestions glady taken on which way to go.

Get the powercolor C3, and use the omega drivers softmod.

Also 256bit doubles memory bandwidth. So as they said it will be a lot faster, especially when using AA, and AF and high resolutions.

are you talking about

PowerColor ATI Radeon 9800PRO Video Card w/ Hitman Game, 128MB DDR, 256-bit, 8X AGP, Model "R98-PC3G" -BULK

or

POWERCOLOR ATI RADEON 9800SE Video Card, 128MB DDR, 256-bit, DVI/TV-Out, 8X AGP, Model "R98SE-C3" -RETAIL

or would this be a better buy?

128MB Crucial RADEON 9800 Pro (refurbished)

from what ive learned i will get a definate preformance bump by going from 9800NP to 9800Pro

This one i have. and you can see i was able to unlock all 8 Pipes with Omega Drivers and with VGA Silencer Ver 3 i achieved this speed.
