I'm getting ready to install a epox 8kda3j nforce3 board with a amd 64 3200+, swapping out the Iwill p4ht and 2.4b cpu. Currently, I have an ati 9800 np that I will use until this deal with BB $299.99 6800gt either pans out, or not, in July.
I think I read somewhere about problems installing a ati 9800 on a nforce3 board..... is that correct? Have there been a bios fix or am I going to have to do the number where I first install another non-ati card, go into the bios and change a few things, then change out to the 9800 card.
Someone please shed some light on this so I'm prepared?
Thanks

My 9800Pro worked just fine with my Chaintech VNF3-250 and AMD64 3400+ for about two weeks before I upgraded to my current x800XT PE. As far as I can tell, both ATI cards run perfectly with the nForce3 250.

Yes should work fine, do a clean install of OS and make sure you install the board chipset drivers etc and you shouldn`t run into any problems IMHO,remember quality ram,PSU etc helps a lot ;).

Thanks for the responses..... this is what spooked me about installing the 9800:

install problem

It listed two AT forum members as the authors of the fix so I thought it was known. In any case, if it happens, I have the work around.

Now I have to get some knowledge on the memory setup for this board as I've posted in General Hardware, memory question and I'll be good to go when the BB 6800 gt oc gets here.
