ATI 9800 AA not working?

I just put in my first ATI vid card, from years of NV. I installed everything right, newest drivers and all, but AA doesn't seem to be working. I've tried all permutations in UT2k3, Tron 2.0, BF 1942, HL, Vietcong, Etc. but changing the AA setting makes no diference in any game. With all my latest NV cards (5900 non-ultra) the AA was noticably beautiful but ATI doesn't seem to change the picture at all. Am I doing something wrong?

Seem to have found the problem. AA doesn't seem to work in any game that overrides the 60Hz refresh problem in 2000/XP. NV fixed the problem for D3D games with the refresh override, but ATI has no fix.

Becoming frustrated with ATI already, I thought I might actually get a better gaming experience...

I never heard of that problem, and I have mine locked at 75hz and AA works just fine. Try using ReForce or something? Other than that, I dunno, but I really can't see blaming ATI for this...
