Should I get better performance marks in 3DMark2001 with AA and AF turned on? I know a lot of people say 3Dmark2001 sucks, but Im just trying to figure out why I scored 13xxx with a P4 2.4 @ 3ghz, ATI Radeon 9700pro and 1gig PC3500 Corsair XMS ram.

What do you have your AA and AF settings at?

No, it should go down with it turned on, but image quality goes up.

I have both set to full on mine.

4x AA, 8x AF

I sold my Ti4600 and got a Radeon 9700Pro just so I can run my games at that spec without much of a performance hit.

I think something is wrong with my setup. Im runninng a P4 2.4C @3ghz, 2 512mb Corsair XMS (CAS 2.5-3-3-7 and 5:4 divider) DDR 433 and Radeon 9700 pro.

3DMark2001 gives me a score of 13517-13684 without AA or AF.

I turned on AA to 4X and AF to 16X and scores dropped dramatically to 9584!

Turn both of them off and see how it does.

well its not "suppose" to do that.. it does because of the > image quality thus more stress on the card.. play the games u play, see if it can handle ok w/ it on, if so, leave it, if u're fps are to low, turn it off.. 3dmark shouldn't be the judge of weather u have it on or off imo... but eh..

I totally agree! I bought the 9700 pro to play games at a higher image quality with playable frame rates and not to increase my 3dmark score. I've never used 3dmark and don't care to. It's so ridiculous how some people live and die by their 3dmark score.
