I saw that in my BB here too. Almost jumped on it but I had to replace a hd first. They will only get cheaper though.

Just go to the website. Everyone from CompUSA, BestBuy, CircuitCity, etc. have lowered their prices.

i wonder what the price will be when the 9800 line comes out....hhhmmmm.....

of course this could be the price Ati wants to peg the 9700 at.

yep, nice price drop..

The 9800 PRO will be around 399$ :)

the ATI AIW 9700 Pro's are dropping too - 449$ -> 399$ Retail.. It'll probably stay that way even after the 9800 PRO is released (well, at least until a 9800 AIW is released six months later)..

hopefully this price change causes a trickle down to resellers like newegg. i'll be buying a vid card soon, and a cheap 9700 pro is just what the doctor ordered. :)

When the 9700 Pro hits $200 I'll get one as well. I gotta get my $200 worth out of my GF4 still. :)

I dropped by Best Buy today and picked up the 9700 Pro for $299. It replaced a 9000 Pro. The performance increase was remarkable. With no other changes, my Passmark score jumped from 295 to 459!

Now I can send in the 9000 to get it fixed - the fan needs replacing.

I bought a 9700 PRO online two weeks ago for $240... although actually all I did was buy Sapphire's regular 9700 and they sent me an ATI 9700 PRO instead by mistake... so I just got lucky I guess.

Time to change your sig.

I wish I had a P4 2.53 though so I'd have a better excuse to get a 9700 Pro. A Celery 1.4 doesn't quite cut it.

However, regardless of the card I think I'd still suck at UT2003. I still have no idea now to do those adrenaline moves properly.

The only video card i will get is when a video card can do 60 to 80 fps minimum at 1600x1200 with all details on maximum. Plus maximum FSAA and AF on quality settings ( Not Performence ). I want this in most or all games. I know i may be asking for too fast but i want faster! I need faster!

Yes the ATI 9700 pro and ATI 9800 pro are very fast but i just want faster!!!!!!

$299 U.S. or $442.50 Canadian? Well, not up here in Canada where it's still around $550 + 15% tax ($632.50).

I picked a 9700 Pro up downtown Toronto for $505 CAN (plus tax yep, and not OEM).
The shops are still paying around $500 for a retail box to thier supplier (ATI I guess?), as of yesterday anyhow.
I expect prices in store won't fall untill the new cards are on the shelf beside them.

That's my strategy too! I used to always get the top of the line but ever since my $300 V5 and my $300 GF2Ultra I have waited until cards got under $200. My GF4 will just have to last a couple more months.

I was over at Best Buy today and held the ATI-9700Pro ($299.99) and was very tempted but it's probably a good thing I didn't get it because I drooled all over it. :p

hmmm...this one's tough. I'm gonna leave for a week tomorrow. when I get back, might the price be lower? guess I'll have to wait and see, but for $299 it's really tempting. For $249, it's a sure bet. For $200...damn that's a good deal.
