ATI 9700 Pro 128MB AGP checker display on bootup.

Hi everyone,
I have a retail Build by ATI 9700 Pro. It has been running fine for 2 years. I lost the receipt, the original cooler, and the sticker on the card, so no warranty. All of sudden one day, when I boot up, it gives me a checker display with multiple different colored squares. It gets worse when going into Windows and I can't see any thing else. I have reseated the card and it was ok for about a minute and the checker patterns came back after that. I have changed drivers and no solution. I don't think it's the drivers b/c this occurs before reaching Windows.
What do you guys think is the problem? It's not overheating as I have clean and remount the cooler which I have used for 2 years. Maybe bad video RAM? Is there any way to turn off the the bad RAM chips and keep on using it? I don't want to buy another card b/c it's just a secondary system for minor usage.

Thanks.

Sounds like the card's RAM has finally had enough of your abuse! 🙂

The card is dead. Time to part ways.
