ATI 9600XT AIW wdm issues

A while ago my TV Tuner stopped working shortly after I installed SP2, so I wrote it off as MS's crappy SP2.

So tonight I reformatted and used the CD with the video card to install it, well lo and behold, it doesn't work right.

WDM Theater Video and audio do not start
nor does the TV Crossbar

I have given up

I have done ATI's process of
Remove all things under the selection in device manager, install the WDM software and restart...

yes it finds it all right but it never starts, I have tried the new web ones, and the old ones on my CD

no luck.

I am ready to light it on fire and mail it back to ATI with a broken condom to show how they f***d me.

Any ideas?

I saw the following suggestion in another thread. I have a 9600XT AIW working fine, so I don't know if it'll fix the problem but it' s worth a shot.

"Make sure you have the latest DirectX runtime installed, and Windows Media "Encoder" (not player) version9 installed prior to installing the MMC software or the tuner will fail. Read the readme files and installation tips at ATI.com, and it should go well."

Some have reported problems with banding during capturing of bright scenes with the 9600XT AIW. Any experience with that? Apparantly it has to do with the theatre 200 chip?
