I dont play too many games and mostly stick to sports and racing games. Would getting the 9800 pro for 150 be worth it for me, or would i be better off getting a 9600XT for 85? the max i would be willing to spend on a card is 150 so the 6600GT is out of the question. Also, how loud is the 9800pro compared to the 9600XT? Thanks for your suggestions.

I'd say it's worth it. A 9800 Pro should allow you to keep the detail level up and maybe add some AA and AF. The 9600 XT would have trouble doing the same.

Don't know about the noise level. but I never read of the noise levels being noticeably loud on any 9800 Pro cards.

The 9800 pro is noticeably faster than the 9600XT and they both make about the same amount of noise (which isn't as loud as my case fans).

If you're a gamer, the 9600Xt is NUTS in my opinion. Way too weak and feeble for modern games and settings. Even a 9800Pro is pushing it as a new purchase unless 10X7 is your preference.

Careful about those $180 Radeon Pros...the ones on PriceGrabber are 128 bit or "EZ" models...bad news! Theyre castrated GPU's!

Do watch out. The 128-bit ones aren't bad, but aren't good, either. They'll beat on the 9600XT for sure, though (for $170 or so, they are a good price if you don't have PCI-E). Look for 9800 Pro cards with memory that is NOT in a single line of four chips. There should be two on top and two to the right of the GPU.
