ATi 9600 XT benchmarks

without benches compared to a 9700 pro / non pro this is kinda pointless because ATI said this would be the first mainstream part to outperform the 9700 pro in all apps

from what i can see it does not outperform the 9700 pro 🙁

Yeah well the review isn't the best I've ever seen or read either and there are loads of pictures, but hey I don't know of any other benchmarks around for the 9600XT 😛

I didn't really get why the 9600SE is listed in a games first two benchmarks and on the third benchmark they choose to include the 9600Pro. At any rate its performance seems to be on par with what the 9800Pro is to the 9800 XT?

B3D's Review

OverDrive for the 9600XT won't work until the CAT 3.9s become available. How crappy is that!

HardOCP achieved a 500-600Mhz overclock! The 9600XT is severely limited by its 3.3ns RAM. Hope some OEMs will use 2.8!

lol, "148 Objects Remaining" . I guess they don't know how to link to other pages!

BSOD? What does that mean? Man , the 5600 Ultra is POS.

Anand confirms this in his 9600XT conclusion:

The GeForce FX 5700 Ultra is architecturally different from the 5600 Ultra, so there is a chance that the gap could shrink but we'll have to wait another week or two before deciding on that.

Since hexus.net received their NV36 reference board yesterday, I bet Anand has one in his lab too.

Thank God it doesn't look too good though.
Makes me feel a little better about the 9800 I've ordered. No HL2 with it though 🙁

Not a bad card, but not really all that much over the 9600Pro.

Maybe someone will offer an XT with faster RAM? Might do more for performance.

What's also worth mentioning is how competitive the GeForce4 Ti 4200 remains in all non AA/aniso modes. If you are a current GeForce4 owner and don't plan on turning on any of those features then you're better off sticking with your current card until you do need DX9 support.
Unless you're getting a 9700Pro/9800 or higher. 😀

We continue to see that the Radeon 9700 Pro is performing quite well and unfortunately ATI's assertions that the 9600 XT would perform similarly to the 9700 Pro are simply untrue. Given the very low price of the Radeon 9700 Pro we'd strongly suggest buying a 9700 Pro over a Radeon 9600 XT, or if you don't want to spend that much money we'd suggest a Radeon 9600 Pro as the performance difference isn't all too great.

I wonder if Anand will be making a few sharp remarks to the ATI PR folks that lied to him at the time of the 9800XT review? Probably not, but it's always annoying when PR people lie for short term marketing wins knowing most people will either forget about or just shrug off the lies.
