ATI 9500pro resource conflict - HELP!

Brand new Biostar M7VIT pro with a ATI 9500pro no other issues, W2k - SP3, 512mb 2700 DDR, laters chipset drivers loaded, latest catalyst drivers loaded.

IO range C000-C0FF not available

Drivers will not load because the card cannot find the above resource. No device is listed to be currently using that range so I cannot rely on that to tell me where the potential conflict lies... Has anyone else had a problem similar to this? Disabled everything possible to try and find a conflict, but nothing worked. Useless ATI support just tells me I probably need to get another motherboard because its a MB issue, but I dont buy that, and if it is the case, I would rather get a new VID card, I find it very "uncool" that they could have such a critical incompatability issue and not provide any warnings to shoppers. btw, all parts are brand new.

someone has to know something... I hope, btw a little more info, I have this problem with my 9000pro as well with the same motherboard, so it may be a mb resource issue, but I cant believe that this is a "too bad so sad" situation...

Do you have any non-ATI vid cards to try and see if you get the same thing? Maybe turn off items in the BIOS that you may not be using such as com ports, printer(LPT1) ports, onboard audio,LAN, etc. To free up resources.
EDIT: I know this is a common response, But do you have the latest BIOS from Biostar?

I tried disabling all the integrated peripherals in the CMOS, including USB,serial ports, Parrallel port, LAN, Sound. I have tested this with both the latest Biostar mb drivers AND the latest VIA chipset driver. windows 2k with and without SR3. no problem with an old Banshee card I had laying around, but a Banshee is a far cry from a Radeon9500pro.

Thanks for the post, but all strikes there, any other thoughts? I am hopeing someone has seen this or something similar before, or will simply think of the 1 thing I have failed to try to resolve it... Any further suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Have you tried taking out all other PCI cards?

Have you tried installing the card and then doing a fresh install of win2k?

This is a brand new pc I am building for someone, so "b" has already been done, as far as PCI cards are concerned, there are none to remove.

:) anyone else?

:disgust:

Sorry...Nothing else I can think of except the old "Get another vidcard" statement. Maybe return the ATI for an Nvidia based model. I'm sure that is not what you want to hear, But just trying here.
EDIT: Or possibly return the mobo for a different one(Brand). You may just have the one weird combo where the parts just don't like each other.

UPDATE:

for anyone who cares, updating to the new, new BIOS

fixed the problem completely. Obviously the first BIOS I updated to was not in fact the newest....
