ATi 9500 Pro vs Upgrade ?

My son has the ATi OEM Sapphire 9500 Pro card right now paired with his Athlon XP 2400+ / NF2 system. Thinking of possible upgrading his vid card to a GeForce 6600 GT AGP 128MB DDR3 Video Card

Worthwhile upgrade or not ?

Games HL2 / WoW / Doom3 games as is now but has to set lower settings in the FPS's for decent frame rate to game online.

Or, if I can find a 6800 used I'd go that route. But if buying new ... go with the 6600GT ?

Figured I'd sell the 9500 Pro @ about $95 to $100 and can get the 6600 GT for around $230.00


What do ya think. ?

Not going to upgrade anything more on his PC for at least 1 to 1 1/2 years by the way.

Two things:
1. $95 for a 9500 pro is a little too optimistic,
2. The 660GT will be bottlenecked a bit by that 2400+. Maybe get a 9800 pro instead and put the savings towards a new processor.

i would stick with the 9500. Its a good card, and matches well with that system.

I'll hold out for a used 6800 I think. Let him save a few more $$'s and see what happens later.
