I just bought an ATi 9200 Gfx card for my friend (he doesn't game or anything). However, I can't seem to get it to display > 60Hz refresh rate no matter what I do. I know for a fact that it's not the monitor as the monitor can display 85 Hz @ 1024x768 on my gfx card (9600XT). Any ideas what I did wrong or is the 9200 just not capable of displaying > 60 Hz?

Thanks.

id say its good that it doesnt do 60hz....what a god awful refresh that is. if the monitor does 85hz then have the card do 85hz also, be better for the eyes

what i'm saying is that it CAN'T do anything > 60Hz. 60 Hz is the MAX it will do. I want to run it at least at 85Hz as well but the damn card won't let me. I'm using drivers directly from ATi as well, and I'd rather not buy a new gfx card.

It should do it just fine, at least at sane resolutions (I don't know if it does it over 1600x1200). You may need to install drivers for the monitor, or uncheck the "Hide Modes This Monitor Cannot Display" and/or "Use DCC Information" options (somewhere under Control Panel/Display/Settings/"Advanced...") to be able to access modes that the video card thinks the monitor can't handle.

Haha, no worries man. Anyway, I fixed the problem and it wasn't either the gfx card or the monitor. It was the KVM switch that I was using before and my friend just didn't know how to switch the refresh rates. After I took out the KVM switch, it worked fine. Thanks for your replies!!
