Ok, I am trying to figure out what exatly is behind all the x800 ATI cards out there. Right now I counted 9 different possible suffixes for the X800 chip:X800 X800SE X800Pro X800GT X800GTO X800GTO2 X800XL X800XT X800XT PE
Thanks to THG I can get info on all but 4 of these. Can anyone help me fill in the blanks, so I know exactly what I may or may not be buying?
Edit: ok, I did some digging and filled in the rest of the blanks except the SE. Seems like ATI is phasing out some of the earlier x800 offerings and replacing them with the GT stuff. All the info below is on PCI-E cards. The x800se is an AGP card so I took it out to keep this info PCI-E

Card Brand-------------Core-----ChipClk-----MemSpd--- Bus-------Pipes
Radeon X800-----------R430------390----------700-------256 bit------12 <--vanila version
Radeon X800 GT------****--------475---------700/980*--256 bit------8
Radeon X800 GTO----****--------400---------780/980*--256 bit------12
Radeon X800 GT2-----R480------400---------980---------256 bit------12**
Radeon X800 Pro------R423------475---------900--------256 bit-------12
Radeon X800 XL-------R430------400---------1000-------256 bit------16
Radeon X800 XTPE---R423------520---------1120-------256 bit------16
Radeon X800 XT-------R423------500---------1000-------256 bit------16

*128mb/256MB versions
**Rumored to be unlockable to 16 pipes
****Depending on card maker, can be R423, R430 or the R480.

X800se was PCIE. I never knew it came in AGP though. BTW, my first PCIE graphics card was an x800SE.

Why can't they make it more simple like 810, 820, 830 instead of this stupid bullcrap from HELL?
what are consumers supposed to believe? Is this the new business philosophy? The more confusion the better! Totally overwhelm consumers with feelings of stupidity and confusion! Perhaps they're just trying to hide the fact they're Shader Model 2???

Yet another reason why i think Nvidia is the smarter and the better Company...

But at least there's still another one out there to keep nivida price's down! ^___^

So care factor zero is my take on ATI's stupid lame attempts to take back market with many cards when they should only need 1 ... geeezzz get it right ATI ... bring out the best now and stop trying to make money with slower cards .. because Nvidia is pawning you at every attempt. with that 1 Great card. from the get go.

Are you serious ??? he is comparing 1 single line of ATI CARD ( X800 ) and you just listed everything Nvidia's got and over 2 Gens at that....

Dude if i made a list of ATI cards that compete agents those Nvidia cards i would be here all day! and i see you made the list longer by putting 128bit and 128mb, 256mb cards... again if those were added to the list of ATI cards it would take 2 days. lol Even if you do think ATI are the best you'v gotta admit they just have too many darn cards out there.

^___^

Your cheating.....

If you want to include the mainstream and budget cards. Then there are quite a few lines of ATI that you need to fill.

X300, X550, X600, X700 to compete with 6200, 6500, 6600.

GF 7800 line is supposed to compete with the Radeon X1800 line. So it should'nt be listed.
