ATI 8500dv problem

my friend has this question...

When I am running my tv tuner(hardware based ati 8500dv) it hard locks xp pro when I view any kind of complicated web page. If I veiw something simple like yahoo tv listing it is fine, others - LOCK!

I am running
XP1900+
epox 8kta3+
512mb pc2700 (ebc...)
ati8500dv(agp)
gf2mx200(pci)

the rest shouldnt matter.
I think I have concluded it is a driver issue with the ati tv tuner software as it happened after a driver upgrade. The screwy thing is it didnt happen immediately after the vid driver upgrade. It could have been after a windows update session, I cant remember for sure.
I just dont watch tv anymore while I am surfing and will probably just have to wait for a driver update. Any other ideas would be welcome.

the rest shouldnt matter.

Some stuff like driver version, WDM version MMC version might matter. There are some nice driver installation guides and troubleshooting info at the Rage3d forums. Sounds like drivers to me.
