I have a 1.2ghz amd tuhnderbird, kt7a-raid motherboard, 512mb of RAM. Sometimes when
I restart the computer, or change the desktop to large fonts, my refresh rate gets stuck at 60hz!! No mattter what i do it won't change! I have tried all drivers and they always do this. Then, when I try to switch drivers(uninstall one/ reinstall another) the graphics get all messed up!!! How am I supposed to get this blasted thing to work? I have reformatted more than 5 times in the past two days!

Please Help!

Thanks-
Jasanity

Try this:

Display Properties>Settings>Advanced>Displays>Monitor> Now at the bottom set the maximum resolution and refresh rate (For my Mitsu 2048X536 and 200 Hz) your driver may not support DDC (I use BNC cable which wont support DDC)

Do these work for sure under windows me? the last windows 200/xp refresh rate fix i used messed up my computer so I am currently reformatting. If it works for sure under xp, I'll reformat with xp. please let me know! Also, I heard madden 2002 runs real bad on xp. is this true, and if so is there a fix for it?

Thanks-

The latest update from Electronic Arts fixes the slow loads in WinXP.

ok, let me know if I'm doing this right. I have tried both refresh rate fixes to no avail. I install the refresh fix and then I run the recommended display drivers .exe again and it should work, right? Well it doesn't and results in a display screen too large for my monitor! Anyone know what's wrong?

I'd also recommend refreshlock.

If you want to tank your registry, use refreshfix.... just read your post and it sounds like refreshfix tanked your system. No idea why people recommend that piece of crap. Close out refreshlock and it's gone... small memory footprint too.

My first question is... is this a new computer build or are you changing video cards? If you're changing video cards on an existing setup, you really need to do a reformat and reinstall. A video card is a pretty pervasive component and unfortunately, you can't just smack the new one in and assume everything will work well. Even if you use one of the available uninstallers that pull reg keys and sys files... they still generally miss something that causes a conflict with your new hardware.

For refreshlock... go into device manager and update your monitor driver with the .inf. Once you do that refreshlock will read it, otherwise you're stuck with the MS PnP driver which supports a max of 85hz.

You shouldn't have a refreshrate issue with Me... I'd recommend you do install a decent OS (2K or XP).

What ATI driver version are you using. Head over to Rage3D and grab the latest XP version (6058). Also, you might want to install the latest via AGP driver (4.10b) before you update the video card driver.

If you want to change your video card driver... you need to uninstall the current one, restart, use regcleaner and clean out ATI entries, restart, then install new driver. This is the best process I have found to deal with changing video card drivers.
