K,
Here's the deal... Based on a comparison of ATI's 8500 and 8500dv product specs, I can not tell if the 8500dv supports dual monitors! Initially I was pretty sure it did, but after some more review I'm really not so sure any more. Here is why:

8500 spec blurb:
-Dual monitor support
-Leading-edge HydraVision? technology supports traditional CRT monitors, flat panel displays and TVs
-Multi-task with MultiDesk ? play multi-monitor games, or work in different applications on each monitor without having to switch back-and-forth
-Assign ?Hot Key? shortcuts for the most used functions
-Vary settings from one application to the next, or choose global settings that determine the behavior of windows and dialog boxes for all applications in your multi-monitor environment

8500dv spec blurb:
-Watch TV or a movie and play a game at
the same time with dual display technology
-Connect to a TV and monitor or digital flat panel display at the same time using ATI?s leading-edge HYDRAVISION? technology
-Create video tapes of PC content by connecting your PC to a VCR
-Connect to digital flat panel and enjoy crisper images and reduce eyestrain

8500's specs say actually say it supports "dual monitors". The 8500dv specs seem to indicate that it only supports TV out +1 Monitor. Not Dual Monitors. Also a close inspection of the 8500dv pic shows only one vga out. There is that funky little white connector that has some weird adapter plug, so the possibility of having a DVI/VGA adapter for the weird connector is a possibility that would allow for dual monitors. I would love to pick up the 8500dv for a dual LCD setup, but I might have to settle for the straight 8500 instead?

Thoughts/Opinions???

On the 8500DV, the second display has to be a tv (NOT a 2nd monitor).

Q8: Can the ALL-IN-WONDER® RADEON? 8500DV graphics card support more than one display at the same time?
A8:
Yes. ALL-IN-WONDER® RADEON? 8500DV allows a number of possible display configurations. The DVI-I connector can be used to drive a DVI display, VGA monitor or YPrPb display. At the same time, the video output can drive a television or VCR.
