Wait until the Radeon 8500 is actually released with final drivers.
Until then all comparisons are based off on unfinished silicon and unfinished drivers.
Along with the fact that most comparisons against the GF3 are done with the GF3 using the unreleased Det4 drivers.
Basically, until things start getting released it's all hype and guesses.

<FONT color=#b0b0b0>"Markus : I think the R8500 is a good part. PS 1.4 is a bit different from PS 1.3 and does have some benefits, mainly such that you can make complete PS effects in single pass instead of with two passes as in PS 1.3. But we haven't investigated it too deeply yet so more niceties in PS 1.4 might reveal themselves later on. Usually it takes a few months of playing with the hardware to figure out all the potential there is."</FONT>
<FONT color=#b0b0b0>From reading that quote it would seem that, potentially, Radeon 8500 could be twice as fast (clock for clock)as GF3 during Pixel Shader operations as well, if its coded for it.</FONT>
