Resistance is futile . . . unless you're too late. ;)

I checked San Diego's CUSA stock online and the Kearny Mesa Rd Store had the best stock; I called and was told there were 14 left.
I FLEW there (even the Hwy Patrol missed the silver blur) and there were only 3 left. Of course I grapped one for myself. :D

Good deal!

BTW, CUSA is a MADhouse - jammed like a Beast Buy with everyone shoving and pushing. :(

I see the "clone" thread was ahead of this one . . . :)

It REALLY is a nice card and a good value. If you want cheaper, Newegg has the 8500LE for about $106.

However, this one is clocked higher and has DVI support. Awesome price for a B&M store. My 3DMark2001 scores more than doubled over my Radeon 64 DDR.

"need a card that has dual DVI!!!!!!!!"
not necessarily the same, but i remember the 8500 64 ddr i bought a while ago (when bb cleared them out) had a vga to dvi adapter... just though i would mention
going to go look for benchmarks of 8500 vs 9000

Yeah, the Radeons have one DVI and one CRT connection, and the adapter is DVI to CRT, not the other way around...

Just think that my cheap $80 LE 64MB model running at 290/290 w/out FAN! And score little over Ti4200 according to 3Dmark2001.

tv out almost universally sucks i think. and the tv out on nvidia cards is going to vary from make to make depending on whatever video encoding chip they're using.

See thats what I was thinking about nvidia cards. The GTS I have has horrible tv out(phillips chip)...even with the tv tool program. The 8500 on the other hand is almost text readable at 640x480 and console gameable at 800 and 1024.

I just bought my first ATI card. I've always gone for NVidia based cards, but when the PixelView GF3 I got from Comp Geeks started smelling like burnt rubber and they wouldn't accept it back because it still technically worked, I needed to get something quick and wanted to spend around $100. This deal came about right on time. I couldn't pass up a mature card with 128 MB ram. I got a 4000 point jump in my 3dMark scores over the GF3, so I'm, so far impressed.

BTW, whoever tried to hide the last Radeon 8500 behind the MX400 cards at the vacaville store should have noticed that the Radeon box was a few inches wider.
