This card has an HDMI port. I'm using DVD-D for a Dell U2410 monitor. I also have an Asus monitor that has an HDMI connector. Can I connect the Asus monitor to the HDMI port on the 7860 to create a dual monitor set up? I tried, but the Asus isn't being detected (it's set to HDMI mode when I try). If it matters, the DVD-D on the asus is being used on another system.

Thanks,
Bob.

I guess my OP was a bit vague. Here's a bit more detail:

How would you set this up for dual monitor?

2 systems (sys#1, sys#2), 2 monitors.

Goal:
Use sys#2 monitor for sys#2 AND as 2nd monitor in dual monitor setup for sys#1.

1.
Saphire Radeon HD 7870 has DVI (dual {in use sys#1} & single), Display Port & HDMI port.

2. Monitor #1 (Dell U2410) has DVI-d (in use for sys#1), D-sub, display port & HDMI
(native resolution 1920x1200)

3. Monitor #2 (Asus VE248H) has DVI (in use for sys#2), VGA (D-sub) & HDMI
(native resolution 1920x1080)

Relevant info:
1. Both monitors are in use for their own machines and sit side by side.
2. I would like monitor #2 to also be the 2nd monitor for sys#1.
3. I tried using HDMI from the card to monitor #2 (set to HDMI mode), but did not work.

Thanks for any help.

Did you try using the other DVI port for your main monitor while using the HDMI port?

No your in the right spot, some folks here think they are funny :)

Hi, and thanks for your (serious) suggestion :) . Yes, I've tried various configurations. It seems that when I try dual connections, both monitors blank out (no signal). The manual states that this card will support up to 6 displays (including DP, but the manual shows 2 MDPs, while my card has only one normal DP).

Here is an excerpt from the manual:

Your AMD Radeon™ HD 7850/7870 graphics card provides display functionality for up
to six displays using any combination of the following:

• Any number of Mini DisplayPort connections.
You can connect more than one display to a Mini DisplayPort connection using
a daisy chain configuration or a hub (multi-display support is made possible
through the DisplayPort v1.2 standard).

• Two connections between the dual-link DVI and HDMI connections.

Using the DL DVI and HDMI doesn't work.

I don't completely understand how to make DP and "daisy-chaining" work, but I suppose I could use an DP>HDMI adapter and daisy chain the 2 monitors.

Maybe the card has issues.

The only way I could get this to work is to use DP for my main monitor and the DVI dual link for the 2nd monitor. The only problem with that is that now, to use the 2nd monitor on the 2nd system, I either have to pick up another video card that supports HDMI or VGA. I guess I could also get an HDMI to DVI adapter (for the existing card on machine 2.

The weird thing is that I can plug HDMI in by itself and monitor one will work. But as soon as I plug in HDMI as a 2nd connection, both screens blank out.
