Im helping a friend install his new video card. Its an ati 7000 PCI card. He has a compaq presario 5000 series computer with onboard video. The compaq site says that by installing the new card it should automatically disable the onboard video. It doesn't happen. I've tried uninstalling it through the hardware manager, there's no way to disable it in the bios and every time I put the card in i just get a blank screen when it boots up. It doesnt seem like its getting throught the POST. Any ideas on what i can do to solve the problem? Thanks!

Check and see if there is a jumper on the MoBo to disable it and also you might try switching the Monitor cable to the onboard video 1st whilr the ATI card is in. Then see if the OS can identify and install the drivers for the ATI then switch and reboot. Also the Onboard Vid card might disable automatically with an AGP Vid card only in which case you may be SOL :(...Recheck CMOS for AGP/PCI 1st options!
