Looks like they've downclocked a lot (probably due to thermal reasons). XFire 5870 is the way to go if you want faster.

EDIT: Okay apparently these are simulated benchmarks of a 5970 and not an actual card.

EDIT 2: Also, the clock speeds they used were rumoured clocks and may not be the actual clocks when the cards are released.

To a mod: Could you change the thread title to "ATI 5970 (5870x2) simulated testing"

Yeah, but at the upper end (2560x1600) it seems to trade blows with 5870 CF. Still a beast of a card, IMO. And, definitely whoops all over the 295. Curious to see what the price will be, was it in the article? I didn't read all of it.

This is only simulated with 2x1600sp @ 725/1000, not an actual card. I think the sample ABT had really has 2x1440sp, even though GPUz shows 1600.

Also you might want to note that they took the clock speeds from ABT, which was using a engineering sample which wasn't finalized. That said these benchmarks are completely useless if the clocks are different on the final hardware.

These benchmarks of an unreleased engineering sample have been removed at AMD’s request and are not at all representative of final hardware’s performance. AMD was quick to let ABT know that the board, the drivers and the BIOS are not finalized. Also, please note that according to AMD, the following leaked pictures are not the final card as this is an engineering sample.

Why not just run CF 5870's? it is what I am running now and at 900/1300MHz w/o any thermal issues. I still haven't found a game that takes anything more than 50% of my GPU to run on the highest graphics.

Everything, including clear sky gets blown over at 1920x1200 all maxxed for me.

I can play Crysis maxed out with 8xaa/16af as well, but I wouldn't say it's blown away, as I average around 40-45, but do get dips to 25-30 or so, and it certainly is pushing the setup fully.
