I like my 5870, but for the life of me can't figure out how to fix these 2 problems:

1. Sometimes when I boot up my system, or take if off of sleep mode, there are large black borders around the screen. My native screen resolution is 1680 x 1050.

2. Frequently when I bring up CCC, the Overdrive option is totally gone, missing.

Again, thanks to you all for any help!!!

Dell XPS 410, Vista 32, Q6600 OC 3 ghz, Radeon 5870, Antec 650 PSU, DDR2 800 mhz

dunno about the sleep problem since i usually just let my system idle. i couldnt for the life of me get it to work with my ridiculous OC, where as the other power saving features, combined with the awesomely low idle power of 40nm crossfire, give me lower idle power than when i had my 9800GTX prior o_O. partially has to do with a more efficient PSU but the fact is it works. as for on boot, i simply havent experienced that issue at all. the CCC overdrive has never disappeared on me either. is it possible you simply need to run a fresh install or do a run with C Cleaner?

Well, I've barely had my 5850 for 48 hours, but I've seen nothing like this. Are you running Cat 9.10, or the driver CD stuff?

I'm going to perform an OS refresh real soon; it's time, plus I think the card deserves a "fresh start". Back up your data, gather up current drivers, and perhaps do the same and report back?

Try using "driver sweeper" to get rid of any old video card drivers that might be left on your system, and then reinstall catalyst 9.10 or even 9.11.
