Hi,

Upgraded 8800GTX (Ultra speeds bios mode) to Asus’s 5850.

Vista x64 Ultimate, ATI’s 10.6 drivers, NEW CLEAN INSTALL.

Power setting are not to sleep ever, not even drives, but the freaking card/drivers/some other DAMMIT shit puts PC to sleep with no option to wake up – only hard reset works.

While in sleep keyboard works, sounds sound/etc. but no display output. Tried two displays, VGA, DVI, DP. So system effectively is out of sleep but no signal to display. Just lost 8+ hours worth of rendering – officially hate AMD now.

Tried older drivers/disabling automatic os lock to no avail.

Card is second hand and no warranty but i went through all testing/monitoring – all is well and works perfect until you leave it to lock/sleep.

There are way too many similar problems on the net – can you help, please...

You mean the monitor is put to sleep? Yeah, for some odd reason I get that on my 5870 even though I have all power settings disabled, although my monitor comes back on when I tap the keyboard.

Same problem with a 4890. Contacted Sapphire about it and they were no help at all.

Thanks for your replies.

Yes, it puts monitor to sleep with no option to wake up. (no different input/re-connection/etc is working).

Latest mobo BIOS and all other soft – just shite AMD/ATI work.

I am really tired now.

Raised ticket with ASUS – no hope for any reply, really.

Anyone?

Huh. I've got the same issue with a 4870. Never thought it could be caused by the videocard. I always thought it stemmed from botching some Windows settings (Win7)

Are you sure the monitor is never go to sleep on all 3 settings?, high power, balance and power saver?

The same as always if you've got problems and overclocked parts in your system: Put them back to default values and look if the problems prevail...

Exactly, that's the #1 step. Next would be to check your power management in all three profiles. Also, does your monitor have an OSD with some kind of sleep timer as well?

This is either an issue with Windows or the windows drivers. I do not have this problem in Linux on the same system with the same monitor.

My 4890 is operating at stock speeds.

Thanks. Fixed now.

Spent all evening yesterday playing with windows/MS drivers/AMD’s drivers (problem is with those).

My solution – remove all ATI’s soft or do clean OS install. While on Microsoft’s drivers disable monitor sleep function for all power modes and remove hibernation file.

Reinstall 10.6 driver (i did with no CCC – but it may work with it).

Thanks again for all your input.

For you info – it does not matter whether card is OC’ed or not.
