 wasn't it delayed to get launched with ati's 5 series sub 100$ dollar cards today.

^_^ was planning to buy new pc with a 5750 or 5770 , since the 58xx series just jump a bit to much in price for my budget.

So any news that missed about the 5830?

They had some issues with faulty PCB being sent out to card makers. It's been delayed twice now and is now expected in mid Feb or early March. I gave up and got a 5850, no regrets.

I thought it was delayed indefinitely because of the PCB issue. Not that ATI really cares, since most people will just bite the bullet and get the 5850 anyway. More ca$h for them I guess.

I think it's delayed indefinitely but the "PCB Issue" is just an excuse to yank a product that would cut into their 5850 sales. That's obviously not something that can be confirmed either way, but that'd be my best guess looking at the economics of the situation.

I just bit the bullet and got a 5770. That's $145 savings after tax that I'll put toward the 6770 or 7770 in a year or two. Almost splurged on the 5850, so well played ATI...

I guess an overclocked 5770 will probably give you the same performance a 5830 would have anyway. No need to spend an additional $130.00 if you don't need to.

yeap i already bought the 5770 instead of waiting for the 5830. Good purchase and a nice upgrade from my 8800gt. :)
