ATi 580 chipset MB

not a few more months but weeks. RD580 mobos should begin appearing online around middle to the end of Feb. Asus' A8R32-MVP will be one of the first out of the door at launch.

yeah...but the a832-MVP is still using the same crayy southbridge from the A8R-MVP right?

please say you've heard otherwise. 😀

I spoke to an EQS rep, according to him:

"The launch date will be somewhere in march 06, not confirmed yet."

It may be a while before we have many to choose from.

The A8R-MVP isn't a bad mobo at all though.

it's about 80% dearer than the ASUS RD480 board going by the UK price that I've seen - pretty much in line with A8N32

the board by Asus looks pretty impressive. But it looks like the vcore tops out at 1.65 meaning for me with an Opteron 170 to arrive shortly, the vcore ceiling is a little too short if i plan to do some serious overclocking. Although the rest looks like a sure winner. incase you haven't checked the front page of Anandtech, an artilce about the 580 is up there 🙂
