I was thinking of either getting the ATI RADEON HD2900 XT 512MB or GeForce 8800 GTS OC 640MB

Which one is better for me, which one can i handle?

One of the games i want to play is Hellgate London and Witcher on max setting and hopefully DX10...help 🙂

Thank you!

Thank you for your answer. Is that one better than the other 2? I'm at work right now and have time to be asking the questions 🙂 Once i leave I'll go pick up whatever card is suggested for me on these forums. Thank you.

The 8800GT is faster than both of the other cards you mentioned, and therefore, about $100 cheaper. Check the benchmarks I linked to.

It will also run cooler, and use less power than the other two cards as well.

Awesome, thanks again. Already ordered and can pick up at best buy on the way home. Thanks 🙂

 Enjoy

Btw while I'm here. Had a quick question. It says that it's 256 MB dedicated with up to 1.5GB What does that mean, and will the new card also be dedicated? Will it be harder than usual to replace? Or should I just not worry about the dedicated part.

your new card is 4 times faster is what it means. Don't worry.

The new card should be a 512MB card. I believe the spec you are quoting is referring to the onboard video which you are using now. It uses system ram to augment the dedicated memory as needed, probably at a significant performance hit.

You will be very pleased with the boost you get from the new card.
