ATi 1900XT problem

Well, I have the 1900XT....but, it's not all that....great, really.

Maybe I did something wrong...

In BF2, it stutters....ALOT....everything is mad jaggies.....
In GTA:SA same thing.....super jaggies and AA doesn't seem to be working Sad
GRAW, However....looks fantastic at 1920x1200 and runs hella fast, no problems there. I get this weird corruption thing right before the login thing on windows

What did I do wrong?

I used driver cleaner pro to uninstall the nvidia drivers and installed the 6.4 drivers...

It also says in the CCC that my clock speeds are HELLA low...

Help me pls
I think my 3dMark06 is normal, though

3DMark Score 4756 3DMarks
SM 2.0 Score 2180 Marks
SM 3.0 Score 2447 Marks
CPU Score 948 Marks

Please help

I just switched from a 7800GT CO to a ATi X1900XT 512mb

Please please help me.

I wasn't having ANY problem at all with the 7800GT
My PSU is Antec TPII 550W, so I know I have enough juice.

Catalyst 6.4 sucks for BF2 - I don't play GTA. Try downloading Catalyst 6.3 or the Omega Drivers v3.8.321 (Catalyst 6.3-based) and install them after running Driver Cleaner.

I'm running Catalyst 6.3 and have enabled Adaptive Ant-Aliasing in the CCC. I run BF2 at 1600x1200 with everything turned-on and set to max with 6XAA (within the Options tab in BF2). Looks and plays great, EXCEPT that I still see BAD jaggies in the shadows on certain stationary objects such as the TOW missile launcher on top of the roof at the Construction Site on the Dalian Plant map.

My CCC Settings are as follows:

Standard Settings: = Balanced
Ant-Aliasing: SmoothVision HD = Application Preference
Adaptive Anti-Aliasing: = Enabled
Anisotropic Filtering = Application Preference
CATALYST A.I. = Enabled
Mipmap Level Detail = Maximum
SMARTSHADER = None

You should have AA on APP Preference in the CCC for BF2.

It's pretty obvious that you have a driver issue. I would reinstall windows and forget the incident ever occur. BTW, I suggest only what I myself would do. I do it all the time.

my friend had a simlar problem and he did upgrade from 6800GT to x1800XT. He just ended up clean install windows and has Cat 6.2 installed. No problems anymore 😉

what motherboard and bios are you running. i know the asua a8r32 mvp has problems with bf2 and some games. try to update your bios, maybe a reformat to remove any corrupt data from your windows operating system...

But...I wasn't having problems with the 7800GT before....so, it wouldn't be a bios problem, would it? Basicly the 7800GT ran faster than this 1900XT

If you can't get it working right even after using driver cleaner etc, then just format your system. Easiest way to fix these sort of issues.

I think wizboy had a guide to uninstalling drivers the correct way. Basically, you:

1) Uninstall the drivers from your Windows Control Panel.

2) Restart your computer IN SAFE MODE

3) While in Safe Mode, run Driver Cleaner Pro to uninstall your previous Nvidia drivers.

4) Restart your computer

5) Enter into Windows regularly.

I did this when going from 7800GT SLI to my current card and have had no problems since. For your AA though, that needs to be set to be application controlled either through your CCC or Tray Tools. (Unless you're playing Oblivion w/Chuck Patch, then you set your AA through the CCC or Tray tools). The only thing you might want to do to your bios would be possibly flashing it to an XTX bios, but talk to "munky" before doing so. I know he did and had some temp differences.

I would run CAB cleaner and SP2 Cleaner from the Driver cleaner too.

well, I did that...and it helped....alot, but not fully...

Oblivion still crashes to the desktop without and warning or anything....it just closes....and it's not even under alot of stress:

1920x1200 HDR/16xHQAF Med fade/ high settings avg fps around 25 outside, towns 50-ish, inside 80-ish

and...GTSA crashes when I go into a transfender

Your cooling fan is working, right? How low are your clock speeds, exactly? And do you have a PCI-E power connector plugged into the card?

Ovlivion crashes for me aswell. Sometimes it does not exit properly and it says it crashed after the exit.... Its not the smothest of experiences running oblivion. Dont know why though. hopefuly a game patch can fix all that nonsense.

For all the eye candy Oblivion provides, it's not the most stable of programs. Do you have a utility to check your voltages? While a 550watt psu should do fine, I'm just worried your psu might not be up to snuff and the 12v rails are low during gaming.

I run Oblivion and I found that on the high-end ATI cards you HAVE to override the fan speeds. My x1900xt crashes after 20 mins of Oblivion if I don't hike up the fan speeds. I use ATItool to set the speeds (the fan should be at 100% by the time the GPU hits 75-80* celcius)

Hey, is anyone running the chuck patch for Oblivion? I'm having some flickering problems.

Yes, the chuck patch causes some textures to flicker occasionally. I guess it's still in a beta stage.

I am running the 6.5 Catalyst Betas with x1900xt's in Crossfire and it is quite stable.

6.4 Wasn't stable
6.3 Wasn't stable
6.2 Was stable, but Crossfire would crash if the system memory was in Dual Channel. But Single Channel caused the X-Fi to stutter pretty badly. With Dual Channel and 6.5's the sound only ever so slightly stutters and pops and not all the time either.

If you want to run the Betas just make sure that you use Overdrive to set the correct 3D speeds as the 3D speeds will default to 2D speeds.
