ATI 1900xt or xtx?

money isnt a huge concern because im selling my old card, and the price gap between these two is only about 60 bucks so im wondering if its just worth it to get the xtx? im a loyal Nvidia fan, but apparently the 1900s are a better make and can also do HDR and AA simotaneously. help a brotha out!

Will you be overclocking at all? Assuming you would from your sig I would say why not go for it, xtx cores have higher oc's.

I think powercolor? I think they have lifetime warranty, but try searching.

if you like to overclock you will have more fun the XTX....they seem to go alot further than the XT's

yeah all xtx got 1.1ns memory, some xt's got only 1.2ns memory that make it dificult to reach high memory speed. I suggest you change the cooler for a vf900 though, my xtx reaches 98celcius on stock cooler with as5 applied! but its a really good card

XTX for overclocking but the warranty doesn't matter does it? Last I checked oc'ing voids the powercolor lifetime warranty. Get sapphire then the only reason to go powercolor was their warranty.

Is HIS good? Their XTX on newegg has a pretty nice rebate at the moment. I'm thinking of picking it up.

With your card, I'd save the $ until G80 or R600. Plus ATI will have a refresh of X1900XTX. Unless you can upgrade for $100, I wouldn't do it.

Otherwise, I'd get X1900XT and use the savings to get an aftermarket cooler like Sytrin or Thermalright V-1 Ultra. VF-900 is way overpriced for the performance it offers. $50 and only 3rd best aftermarket cooler at best....that's garbage.

XTXs seem to have better chance for higher yileds in O/C.. But it's a matter of luck too..
1.1ns have the vast majority of XTs and XTXs.. That doesn't give you the assurance that will o/c to what they are rated ..
I have 1.1ns in my XT and I can't o/c past 800MHz in ram..
Oh and HIS is highly recommended..

Did you really check? I was thinking of replacing the HSF down the road as the warranty says nothing about overclocking or HS replacement voiding the warranty. From Powercolor's site:

This lifetime warranty is valid for the life of the retail product, as so long as the original purchaser owns the product, based upon the following conditions:

* PC Lifetime Warranty applies to all X1900 series retail Graphics Card
* Product must be with no physical damage to the PCB, GPU/chipset, or components
* Product must in retail package and have been registered with PowerColor.
* Offer is only valid in the USA and Canada .


This is the only information I have found. I will e-mail them before I try replacing the HS to make sure, but from this it seems like it would be OK, as long as you put the stock one back on before you RMA'd it.

Best Deal currently is a HIS X1900XTX Retail for $450(was $430) AR from Monarch - http://www.monarchcomputer.com/Merchant...ct_Code=190262&Category_Code=ATI-PCI-E

It says special order 4-6 days but other folks and myself had our cards ship in two days. The card is great. At load w/ fan 100%(sound doesn't bother me) temps reach 63c.

ok I was wrong. I didn't think any ATI partners allowed oc'ing without voiding the warranty.

I wouldn't say that about the vf900. I get 35 at idle and 52 at load with my Sapphire xtx.

If your overclocking, look at the review Anandtech did when the 1900 chipset came out. The top overclocker companies, according to Anandtech, was Sapphire and HIS.
