AthlonXP Motherboard with 4pin power plug

I have a 300watts power supply that don't have the 4-pin plug, will it work on a motherboard that has it?
I don't have the money to buy a new power supply yet.

I know Asus A7N8X deluxe doesn't have the 4-pin. I can not afford the price tag of $129.
I am looking at Shuttle AN35N Enforce2 Ultra 400 and cost $69.99, but it has the 4-pin plug.

I wonder would it works with a power supply that doesn't have a 4pin power?

I'm not familiar with the boards you mention, but the FIC AU13 has the extra 4 pin square connector, and the system will not operate if it is not plugged in. But I also believe that a 350w power supply is the minimum to put into any Athlon system.

The manual for the gigabyte series of nforce2 boards, states that the system will not boot without this 12v plug.

I havent tried without it.

Two points: First, you can run an Athlon system just fine with a 300 watt PS. Thousands do it every day. Yes, it is a good idea to have a decent one but 300 watts is not usually a problem. Second, you can get an adapter plug for your PS to supply the 4 pin 12v power. I'll look for a link for you.

Found One

That gives you an idea as to what you are looking for but you can find them cheaper and probably even locally.

By the way, MWave.com has a pretty good price on the Shuttle AN35N Ultra: $56 + s/h so that might save you a few dineros, even after shipping. 🙂
