Hi,

I just upgraded from a t-bird 1.4hgz to the Athlon XP 1700+. I updated the bios to 1007, installed the cpu and now I keep getting memory dump errors (specifically saying win32k.sys). After formatting and re-installing Win XP I still get these errors and now my hard drive just turns off whenever it wants, causing the system to reboot. While rebooting you can hear the hard drive spin back up. Anyway have these problems? I did load bios defaults, got the K7 winxp patch etc but to no avail! Could it be I got a defective processor? I had NEVER seen a defective processor so I really think it's something else!

(I posted this in the cpu board also just in case it might actually be the athlon!)
