I have been follwing the prices carefully for a while now and the trend is the same. Intel more expensive, Athlons cheaper. WHY??

Is it because that Athlons have a smaller core or the material their using are cheaper. Or just marketing stratagy.

Also, although Intel CPU's are more expensive, thoeir sales are very good. merketing stratagy again? Tv adds?....

Because intel is selling alot of cpus based on their brand recognition. Alot of people less well-informed with computers are willing to shell out more money for a P3/P4 because they think it's a major brand. There's also a factor of supply and demand. Intel isn't making enough of their higher end chips which drives up the price

Inter has at least half a dozen fabs doing .18 micron(current core size for CuMine and P4). AMD on the other hand has 2 FABs, with 1 making copper Athlons for the fastest Athlons; and the other making Durons and low end Athlons.

mm.. Then why does intel keep up their price when they know that AMD is munching up thier business like a worm. Why not do something more dramatic apart from the small price cuts compared to the AMD's?

AMD isn't munching Intel's business. The Celerons killing the duron's sales, and large corporations aren't placing orders for AMD systems either. The only place that AMD is making a killing is among hard-core tweakers such as the people who frequent these forums. In Every other market, Intel is either killing or handily beating AMD.

As it stands now, AMD makes the better chips, but they aren't anywhere near challenging intel.
