AthlonMP in a single processor mobo

Hey all, I was wondering if it is possible to run an AthlonMP in a single processor based motherboard. Non AMD based. Reason I ask about this is that currently the highest processor I have been able to find in a 266MHz FSB was the AthlonXP 2600+ and then realized that the 2800+ MP was available in a 266MHz FSB. Is this possible?

Thanks in advance guys 🙂

you can do it. an MP is fairly close to an XP.

oh wait...
Non AMD based
what do you mean by that?

right, and also - if you get the XP2600+, you can overclock it just that tad to 2800+ speeds, and you'll have a little bit more effective FSB (probably around like 290mhz FSB) for the proc, so it'll work better. as long as your mobo will handle that extra 10-15 fsb through the northbridge. 🙂

in theory an MP is just an xp certified to run in multiple cpu configurations.....The question may be if the mobo has support for a high enough multiplier....
