AthlonMP chips - are all unlocked by default?

I have a question: are all AthlonMP chips multiplier unlocked by default? If they are, do they have to be in certain motherboards to be adjustable? My Epox 8K3A+ has a BIOS option to enable the board to recognize MP chips and if this is all accurate, I might get an MP chip and overclock the chip to 166MHz FSB.

Opinion?
 
I believe all are unlocked, which, other than the ability to be in dual-processor configurations, is its selling point.
