I'm in the process of building my first athlon64 cpu machine. But I recently heard that the 64 processors require a special bracket to help secure it to the motherboard. Is this a true statement?

no..? if you buy a retail CPU with the heatsink, and a 754 mobo, it will be simple to fit...
