I have done a bit of searching, and so far I am having trouble finding a good athlon64 notebook. It would be a gaming laptop, so I need a pretty decent nVidia graphics chip (ATI linux support is pretty bad). So far almost all of the A64 laptops I have found use Mobility Radeon 9600s or 9700s. The only laptop that I did find was the Asus L5000D, which does not seem to actually be on sale anywhere.
Does anyone have any linux experience with this notebook, and how much does it cost?
I am becoming increasingly frustrated and may give in either an ATI A64 or a nVidia Pentium-M, although ATI does not have 64 bit linux drivers yet.
Any suggestions?

Eh, wait till the nVidia 6800GO is available for more notebooks (aka a A64 lappy). It's bound to happen soon, as the 6800GO is a new product and all...

The only rumours of a current A64M combined with 6800GO is here:

where a guy says:

nf4 sil+ 6800x2 vs A64M + 6800go. i will choose a notebook :Q "

Though everything is in chinese on that forum, so I have no idea of the context :D

AFAIK the only two main lappy makers that have the 6800GO GPU in them are an alienware one, and the dell XPS (and maybe another by dell?).

There is a whole class of HP/Compaq with 1280x768 display, Athlon 64 between 3000 and 3400 and GeForce 440 Go.

Here's one, sold out right now but it has been available until last Friday:

I would have bought one long ago if the display had more resolution.

These machines are also available on ebay through various high-volume notebook sellers. Don't know whether that's your thing. These models are on their way out, so grab one while you can.

Disclaimer: I didn't actually use one of these, maybe the cheap HP are considered crap. Dunno.
