What are you guys using instead of the stock heatsinks on Athlon 64 systems? Looking for something quiet 27db or less.

Zalman 7000al/cu is my choice for my next AMD64 rig: silent and very powerful.

How would you get around this with the Zalman? (from systemcooling.com):
"The only down side to this cooler is the spotty compatibility with AMD systems. Most of the problem comes from the fact that the processor socket often sits very high on the motherboard in AMD systems, which means that the cooler can interfere with the power supply in some case/motherboard combination. Given the large 109mm diameter of the unit, this sort of problem is practically unavoidable."

Zalman site says they are compatible with all athlon 64 mobos. I'm going to be getting one with my new rig, so I guess I'll be a guine pig. Note: Won't have it for a week or too so don't wait on me.

I just took a spin around looking for AMD 64 coolers, and to be honest, there just aren't many options yet.

Don't own an Ahtlon 64 system, but I know Thermaltake has a K8 version of their SilentBoost heatsink. It should fit your criteria.
