Athlon64 FX SETI Times (2.2GHz)...

Hmmmm....Unless I'm missing something, it would seem that the new P4 Extreme Edition would be better at SETI considering the 2MB level 3 cache and the hyperthreading built in. A 3.2GHz regular P4 does around 16-17WU's per day with HT on....so it would seem that the cache would kick butt! 🙂

But the Athlon64 FX does look good....and considering that a fully developed 64bit OS and CLIENT...woooooooooooooooooooooo!

Nice but is it really that great? I mean, my P4-2.4C o/c'ed to 3.12 averages just over 13/day with only a single stick of (5:4 ratio) RAM in my dual channel able Abit IC7-Max3.

Exactly... why spend 700+ when you can have P4C 2.4 for ~$160. I don't do seti instead I am folding. My p4C's are @3.4gig 275fsb 1:1 dual channel and would probably come close to that 13.7 if not surpass it.

Well, I think we're seeing just the beginnings of its capabilities 😉

AMD is sending me two of these bad boys (A64's, not sure which ones yet, unfortunately). Hopefully it'll be before the end of the MTR (I'm sure it will. I expect it to be before the end of the month, actually.

Why?

If you have lets 10 of these you would be doing 137 which would quite nice 😀.

okay you spend 160 on a chip, how much did you spend for HSF to OC that much? how much time tweaking, testing did you put in? you are OCing that chip 1 ghz to match what a stock 2.2 ghz chip can put out... perhaps.
sure its pricey, but that will come down in time.
add a 64 bit client and theres no telling what these babies will do.

Hrm weird.

That is a good time, but unfortunately HT kicks ass :-/ 🙂 😉

Barton 2500+ Oc'd to Barton 3500+ can do the 1:45'ish range.

I think the main thing to keep in mind is that this 64 bit setup hasnt been optimized yet. If there was a new client written for it, stable motherboards, etc ....

I want your job 🙂 what do you do again?

Are you "allowed" to overclock those chips once you get them? 🙂
