You've got to be kidding me. This is actually a poll?

Even the most hardcore Intel fanboys would have to admit that clock-for-clock A64>>>>P4.

The P4 is specifically designed to clock up to really high speeds and get speed that way. The A64 is designed to process a lot more data per clock, but doesn't clock as high.

Basically, let's say Jim and John both have to haul a bunch of stuff from one house to another. There is a perfectly straight highway between the two houses.
Jim (the P4 guy), rolls out the Indy racer and takes one piece at a time at 400MPH from one house to another.
John (A64) starts up the semi and hauls all the stuff at once (but obviously much slower). For the purposes of comparison, let's say the quantity of stuff is such that they both get done at the same time.

Now, put a speed limit on the road. Now the comparison is foolish, the whole REASON Jim picked his method is because he knew speed was no issue.

OK, maybe it's a dumb analogy, but you get the idea.

videoclone, you should be banned from these forums. i'm being 100% serious. i have yet to read a single one of your posts that is anything but a complete waste of everyone's time, not to mention anand's bandwidth.

these threads are inflamatory, pointless, and fanboy-driven. please stop.

another waste of time

by videoclone in the above thread posted by sickbeast:

"Anyone who voted X800XT at 400Mhz beating the 6800 Are just showing how stupid they are! ..

Just like those people who think a P4 Running at 2Ghz beats and AMD running at 2Ghz idiots who know nothing !"

soare you making fun of yourself for making such a pointless poll cuz you know the answer but are asking anyway?

yes, stop wasting bandwidth...

i was banned about 3 years ago but i made a new nick name a year later! to ask a question about modding something in bios

I follow the rules now and so long as i do then i have every write to post! no matter how stupid 1 or 2 people consider those posts may be.

I'm frankly sick of so many people going around telling everyone how pointless there posts are why dont "YOU" people stop wasting bandwidth!

in general, i don't flame people...

a lot of times people are just ignorant and need to be enlightened...

but when someone asks a question or posts a poll that they know the answer to...

what's the point of asking?

seriously... what was the point of asking this question if you already posted the answer to it in that other thread?

if you were a complete idiot or just completely ignorant then i'd understand...

obviously you're NOT a complete idiot and NOT ignorant...

...

so i'm just confused as to why you even posted this...

you'd need a 3.2Ghc PIV or above to compete with a 2ghz A64......

The fact that the PIV needs 1200 Mhz more to compete in the same ball park shows what having a 31 stage pipeline does.

The athlon 2000+ @ 1666 Mhz beats an Intel @ 2 Ghz

ROFL, you made my day.

I think there are more than a few who think these posts are just a waste of space.

Don't you have anything better to do than to catch people off guard?

Trying to boost your post count? Think of something better to add to the community.

Thanks!

Well I feel everyone maybe be a little harsh on the guy but its surprises me by his question which is pretty dumb, so, maybe some good can come out of this pot to show why an A64 @ 2Ghz kills a PIV @ 2Ghz, as well all know the longer pipelines in both the northwood (21) and prescott (31) devalue the Mhz which is a draw back but allows the chip to scale higher in frequency. A64 only has 12, I?m pretty sure the Xp had 10 but the A64 does more IPC?S (instructions per clock) then its old friend the K7, or is it the hypertranspot and on die memory that make it faster?

Any how a A64 does far more IPC?S then a PIV, however as most readers know now Intel is starting to move away from the Mhz race. The PIV is even beaten by a 2000+ like I said in my last post @ a clock speed of 1666Mhz ( from what I remember of the reviews over two years ago). It would be nice to see some benchmarks between a A64 @ 2GHZ ( 3200+) & a PIV @ 2Ghz to see how much more performance the A64 gives per Mhz.

There's absolutely no question. A64 would dominate at the same clock speed.

If you would have polled a Pentium M Dothan against the athlon64 at the same speed that would have been different. This is a pointless poll.

As one of this boards biggest AMD zealots, videoclone knows the answer to this question. He's just trying to start some sort of AMD vs Intel flame war.

He does the same thing in the video forum with ATi vs nV, but very few people bite on the flamebait. He is just an attention whore, as oppossed to a troll in my book.

I'm interested in what other people think i already know what i think .. is faster but just Curious to see if theirs anyone still stuck back in 2001. with Mhz being king! soon Intel will have a 4Ghz P4 and AMD's answer is a 2.6Ghz AMD64 .. now thats a bit of a gap!

thats like a 300hp truck vs 300hp corvet, they sound like they are evenly mached but the corvet will kick the trucks ass.

So just because you got BANNED 3 years ago from "this particular forum" you have been unable to use the Internet for 3 years?????

Well, it'll do you no good to start back at it trolling here. Go read up on a few articles to "catch back up with life" and you easily see the "opinion" you're looking for.

There's a new web site out (Well, if you've not turned a computer on in 3 years anyway). It's called GOOGLE. It's your best friend.
