Athlon XP3000 or AMD 64 3000

I'm upgrading my sons video card from a ATI 9600 Pro to a ATI X850XT. It will go in a MSI K3 Ultra 2 motherboard with a Athlon XP3000 and 1 gig of memory. I have a AMD64 3000 754 socket chip that I'm not using. All I'd have to do is buy a 754 motherboard and put the AMD 64 3000 in it. Would it be benifical to do this? Or is the performance gain not worth it?

Thanks

😕

That wasn't an option.

You already have the XP 3000+ and MSI mobo? I'd go with the A64 3000+ and start overclocking, although I'm not sure of the s754's potential. Either way, you'll have a happy kid.
