Hi. I got a new processor but it wasn't the one I expected. I was wondering if it's as good as my old one. The old one shows up in CPU-Z as Athlon XP Thoroughbred 2400+. The new one I got shows up as Athlon XP Thorton at 3100+. How do you think those two compare? The reason I'm wondering is one is running at 2ghz and the other 1.8ghz.

When all is said and done the thorton core should perform the same as a t-bred at the same clockspeeds. thorton is a barton core with half the cache disabled.

Thanks. I tried that Sandra program out and the 2400 is getting much higher cpu results, so I wonder if it just doesn't mean much in terms of actual performance?

The Thoroughbred 2400+ is faster at 2GHz, even with a lower FSB than the Sempron 3100+ at 1800 with a higher FSB.
