First let me start with an explanation:
This past summer I purchased a Sony VAIO FX210. It was advertised to have a Mobile Duron 800, which was great savings and I was looking forward to PowerNow! functionality. Upon closer inspection I noticed there wasn't any PowerNow! support and that it was as weird model of the Mobile Duron only available through Sony (!). So I have heard other users of my laptop complaining on the Yahoo! group (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/FX210/) about how the battery life stinks since there isn't PowerNow!.
Some users have found Athlon 4's for sale, which are hard to find in single sets (if you know where to buy, send me a URL!) without costing an arm and a leg. These Athlon 4's and other Mobile Durons that have PowerNow! work in my laptop, as reported in the above Yahoo! group.
Now to the question:
Does anyone know how to unlock the PowerNow! functions on the Athlon XP? If so I would be able to use this processor since it is basically the same thing as the Athlon 4. It would also cost me less money to purchase than dropping $200+ on an Athlon 4.
If anyone has a URL or documentation on how to enable the PowerNow! functions I would greatly appreciate the help.
