I have the 1700+ t-bred on the ABIT NF7-S V.2 with twin Corsair XMS 3200LL 256MB sticks.
I oc the system: FSB: 216mhz = 433mhz
Cpu multiplier: 11x
Cpu voltage: 1.75v
Cpu speed: 2376mhz

Motherboard temp: 29C Cpu: 49~53C idle
i'm using Tt Volcano 7+ fan speed 6000rpm
have 5 antec case fans in my case

my idle temp pisses me off thats very hot compare to my friends SLK-800a with SFII using the same setting what should I do:confused:

Something is wrong because I have the SVC GC69 with a panaflo and my 1700 is at 32 deg idle/45 deg load.

Does the HS rock back and forth? Pull it off and check to see how well the core is touching the HS by the impression the thermal paste makes.

Have you updated to the 1.4 or 1.6 bios?.. It fixes the temperature too high issue.

Anyway. you could get a better heatsink. Try the SLK900U. I have about exact same system as you do right now and idle is 42-44 C depending on ambient temps which are usually 21-24 now at summer.

that's debateable... some people say the older bios actual read the temps more correctly... how they know this? i have no idea..

the retaining clip should be targeted right on the cpu's die. or the part of the copper that's is a little lower should face the raised part of the socket

did you try updating the bios from a flash utility such as awdflash or amiflash? That requires that you boot the computer with a bootable floppy and typing all this nonsense code just so you can flash your bios. it's more confusing than from within windows - clicking a few buttons and restarting...

thermal probe showing old bios temps to be more accurate i think. in the temp thread that i started, mikewarrior2 pointed out the same controversy that took place with epox boards where they just used an algorithm to fix temps cuz of the massive amounts of RMA's they were getting

Well i can tell you right now you are using the wrong bios for your board. The current bios for the version 2.0 board is 1.6. The nf7_19.bin bios is for the 1.x version boards.

yup, you were trying to flash the wrong bios...

you need to get a new bios most likely...

www.excaliberpc.com sells extra bios chips...

man oh man...

try clearing the cmos or taking the battery out of the board for a bit... see if that helps...
