Athlon XP Running Temperatures

Hey I was lucky enough to pick up an Athlon XP 2200+ and it was unlocked already by amd for me. The thing I would like to know is its running temperatures. I heard its die temp. is 90c, but how high can you take it while still being safe? Some say over 50c is not good but I have some pretty good cooling and im at around 43c.

Generally, most of us here would keep it below 60C. Depending on what board you're on cause some board reads the temp differently and provide incorrect numbers. There's a thread around here regarding the temps hitting a 90C and still working. I would not go to that temp though. It's risking death. 🙂

Yea I meant at idle speed when in your bios, I have an Abit KX7-333R board, not sure if that makes a difference or not.... oh yea and my chip starts with an RIRGA I havent seen but one of those..... Not sure if thats good or bad.
