Athlon XP & performence

Would it be worth upgrading to a XP1900 on a asus a7m266 mobo?
Would I see the true potential of the cpu or do I really need to get a XP ready mobo?
I have a 1.133 atm , but I am a hardcore gamer so faster the cpu the happier I am
